Small Charity Week (22-29 June)

This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), Charlton Toy Library is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.

This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact., shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.

In the Royal  Borough of Greenwich, small charities like ours play a crucial role in supporting families with children under the age of 5. Charlton Toy Library aims to promote the principle that play does matter for the developing child, helping to create connection, opportunity and support for those who need it most. Our objectives are to offer a befriending & supportive service to parents and carers, make play available & lend appropriate toys and books to help children learn and develop their creative, social and educational skills, extend the opportunity for shared play into the home, provide play areas where children and adults can use a wide variety of toys and creative activities and to offer an opportunity to socialise and exchange experiences.

Small charities are where change really happens. They are rooted in their communities, responding quickly to local needs and providing support that fits real people and real places.

At a time when many communities are facing increasing pressure, their role has never been more important.

A spokesperson for Small Charity Week said:

“Small charities may be small in size, but they are BIG in impact.

They are creating change in communities every day, often quietly and without recognition. Small Charity Week is a moment to celebrate that impact and to stand behind the organisations making it happen.”

Small Charity Week is a moment to recognise and back the work of small charities across the UK.

Because when small charities thrive, communities thrive. And when communities thrive, society is stronger.
